We are chimerical animals. We are mythological beings molded by our internal tempests. We are deformed by pain as well as by pleasure, we are creatures in continuous metamorphosis. Digital anamorphosis are created by exploring the scanner’s peculiar photographic rendering mechanism in motion and return an apparently hyper-realistic image by crossing the verisimilitude level and invading the surreal. Nowadays, the artist doesn’t want to nor can he provide an alternative by providing a solution to recompose the contours of the deformed subject. The artist does not have calculations with which a precise and scientific image can be obtained again, as in a Renaissance drawing through a reflecting surface or positioning oneself in a defined point of space, of the lost subject. The possibility relies on the capacity of our “mirror mind” to reconstruct a form that is plausible, unitary, coherent, responsible and – never mathematically fixed nor perfect – of the other. The exhibit intends for the public to identify with the individuals that are in perpetual change and that are continually incorporating and acting out deformities caused by their own emotions. The point of departure, is the assumption that there is a psycho-physical predisposition. It centers a belief that there is a mindset that is also physiological and that implies the development of “empathic neurons”. An astuteness that points out the capacity to reproduce gestures and principally to develop open and receptive observation.
